Tools and Resources I Use

Looking for the tools and resources I use in my projects? For a resource I mentioned in the blog?

No worries if you can’t recall the specifics, I have collected the most commonly-used tools and resources I use on this page. The include my work on mobile games, Unity Assets, or other development projects.

Game Development

Unity

Unity is, simply put, the world’s most popular game engine. It packs a ton of features together and is flexible enough to make almost any game you can imagine.

Easy Mobile Pro

Easy Mobile Pro is a many-in-one plugin that greatly simplifies the implementation of common-features-on-every-mobile-game such as advertising, in-app purchasing, game services, notifications, sharing, etc. Our vision is to create a standard package that is integrated in every Unity mobile game, taking care of all “necessary evils” so you can focus on doing the most important thing in game development: creating fun!

This Unity Asset is my first imported asset on any project – it provides the steppingstone for Ads monetization, Google Play services integration for Leaderboards, Achievements and In-App purchases. It also provides native device integration for things like taking snapshots, support sharing, asking for reviews, etc.

Google AdMob and Google Play Services for Unity

AdMob Unity Plugin provides a way to integrate admob ads in Unity3D Game and u3d app. You can use it for Unity iOS and Android App with the same C# or js code. I use Admob ads as my main monetization mechanism in my games.

The Google Play Games plugin for Unity is an open-source project whose goal is to provide a plugin that allows game developers to integrate with the Google Play Games API from a game written in Unity. I use this to provide Leaderboards, Achievements and In-App purchases.

DOTween

DOTween is a fast, efficient, fully type-safe object-oriented animation engine, optimized for C#.

While I usually use the free version of the Unity Asset, there’s also a paid version – DOTween Pro which provides additional capabilities.

Web Sites and Projects

WordPress

WordPress is the world’s most popular website builder – 39% of the web is built on WordPress. More bloggers, small businesses, and Fortune 500 companies use WordPress than all other options combined.

I use WordPress in all of my websites, including this one.

Elementor Pro

Elementor Pro is probably the most versatile and advanced WordPress website builder. It provides complete control over your site, with visual design and great performance. It includes a large number of widgets, with many more available via add-ons. It supports templates, integration with services Mailchimp and various Forms services.

BlueHost

Bluehost is one of the largest website hosting providers and powers millions of websites. I’m using it to host this website, as well as a few others.

Namecheap

I use Namecheap as my main domains’ registrar, and to buy and sell domains. It has a great domain searching tool, easy-to-use interface, and also provides advanced features, such as WhoIs guard, cheap WordPress hosting and simple auto-renewal.

Mailchimp

I’m currently using Mailchimp as my main mailing service, mostly for the newsletters of my websites.

Microsoft Azure

Obviously, I’m biased (working at Microsoft), but Microsoft Azure is my go-to place for both the low-end and heavier projects – I used it for microsites, as well as the full-grown product like Wikikids (which uses an Azure SQL Server, App Service, Storage Accounts, Application Insights, and a few other services.).
